BOBBI

Bobbi

In January 2024, we got a report of a hit and run that had been left at the side of the road.  He looked like he was once owned as he had been neutered, and had an old chain around his neck.  We took him to the Sanctuary to try our best for him, and called him Bobbi.

Bobbi's Story

On 25 January 2024, we we rescued three dogs, and Bobbi was the second call.  He's a neutered male so at one point had an owner and he also has a rusty chain around his neck. He was hit sometime in the previous 24 hours and brought off the side of the road by construction workers who then lay him down outside the house of the person who reported.

The people in the area have no money to take him to a vet and all vets require a deposit to treat a dog.

The sad thing is, he was reported in a Facebook group and there were nearly 100 comments so I'm sure someone could have helped him. As usual, the burden is on DAS to raise money, treat him and commit to looking after him for the rest of his life.

He was not moving or conscious when we picked him up. He had been lying outside for at least 20 hours when we got to him.  He tested positive for Heartworm and Anaplasma and had a broken leg and fractured pelvis. We can heal the pelvis and will try laser therapy to see if that helps. He was not in obvious pain we put him on pain medication as a precaution.

Bobbi had his surgery to amputate his on 1 February and so far, appears to be making a recovery.  Our volunteer vets Doc Myla and Doc Ruth are performing miracles for us at the moment and we are so grateful. We simply could not afford such surgeries without them, and of course the support of our donors.  We remain hopeful that Bobbi will recover to enjoy a few more happy years, like so many of our "tripod" veterans!
