Merlin
Rescued in a very poor condition, Merlin was the youngest of three dogs rescued in June 2022. The older dogs, Milly and Mabel, may well have been used to breed, as they all appear to be a popular small dog breed known as a Maltese. They are all now released from their uncertain futures and have the opportunity to fulfil their lives with a loving family.

Merlin's Story
Rescued on 4 June 2022, Merlin was one of three seemingly "pedigree" dogs rescued from squalid caged conditions. Together with Milly and Mabel, Merlin had very bad mange and was suffering from malnutrition. It's likely he was bred for sale, but his condition prevented him finding an owner, and the poor state of Mabel and Milly meant they were unlikely to produce any more healthy litters.

These poor souls were really protective of each other, and when they arrived they had such a haunted look in their eyes. We gradually gained their trust, but Merlin was always a happy boy from the very first moment we picked him up. Maybe he was too young to accumulate too many bad experiences at the hands of uncaring humans.

We have every confidence that Merlin will grow up to be a happy, healthy boy, and with our Adoption Commitment of free neutering when the time comes, we can be sure he won't be used for breeding. The only way for the stray dog population locally to be bought under control, and animal welfare improved, is for the unchecked increases in planned and unplanned dog breeding to be reduced. Adopting from us is a responsible, and humane thing to do.

Merlin Adopted!
Merlin adopted
We have some bittersweet news! Merlin was adopted yesterday by Jose and his wife.
We really wanted the family of 3 to be adopted together (Milly and Mabel) but it clearly wasn't happening and when Jose said he wanted to adopt Merlin we knew we had to let him go before he gets too old as then his chances of adoption would decrease significantly.
Merlin really took to Jose when he met him and was trying to chase all the other dogs away from him. You can read more about Merlin on his profile page here.
