Fernee – Adopt a Stray

Fernee when rescued

On 22 February 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we responded to an emergency call for a young hit-and-run victim we called Fernee.  She could not move her back legs and was in great distress.

She also tested positively for Parvovirus, so she had a lot to contend with.  She pulled through, and after a few treatments of laser therapy on her back and legs, her mobility began to improve.  Just a month later she was returned to her reporters who had agreed to adopt her at the time of her rescue.

She is still a little wobbly, but a massive improvement on where she was just a short while ago.  Wishing you all the best Fernee!

Angela adopted!

Angela Adopted!

Angela adopted

Angela, now Shiva, was found on the side of the road on 11 February 2024 with one eye popping out, likely as a result of an impact from a car or motorcycle.  She was adopted by Elizabeth ten days later, after a successful operation to remove her eye, and neuter her.  She took a few days to adjust, and kept herself to herself but with patience Elizabeth worked with her to socialise her with her new siblings.
Rescue dogs often need time and patience to adjust - sometimes a few weeks or months.

Lady

Lady

It broke our hearts that Lady never found her people. We posted her for adoption but no one came for her.
We have done the best we can to give her a good life, with as much love and care as possible, but nothing can rival a family of her own.
Lady was another victim of a hit and run and left suffering in the street for 3 days.

Lady

When we rescued her she had a fractured pelvis but with laser therapy and trips to the ocean she slowly healed and started to walk.
We rescued her in Feb 2022. She's was around 12 years old but life on the streets takes its toll.
Her body was starting to break down. Her kidneys were in failure and she has gingivitis.

Luckily we could give her laser therapy thanks to the donors who enabled us to buy our own machine.
She was still active and enjoying her walks almost to the end, but her suffering escalated in recent weeks, and we knew it was time to let her go.  She passed on 18 February 2022.
We loved you Lady, we hope you knew that.
Please consider adopting a senior and giving them their own family for their remaining time on earth.
We have so many dogs over the age of 10.
We will cover all medical expenses for the duration of their life.  We just want them to experience having a home.

ToyToy – Adopt a Stray

ToyToy

On 15 February 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we rescued a black dog named ToyToy who had a badly infected neck wound from a lanyard tied tightly around his neck.  His reporter wanted to adopt him when he is better, so we took him in and began treatment.

He is a very calm and trusting soul who has just been neglected.  Once he's healed, he will be returned to his new home.

Whisp

Whisp

Whisp was reported to us close to death, semi-conscious and in desperate need of rescue.
Despite now having 190 dogs, we couldn't leave him there. We think he had been attacked recently as he had a lot of holes and wounds and numerous ticks. Blood tests showed his immune system was extremely compromised and he had very few red blood cells. He also tested positive for anaplasma, ehrlichia and babesia.
The odds were stacked against him surviving, but we wanted to give him a shot at life. Sadly, it was all too much for him and he passed peacefully the day after he was rescued, on 11 February 2024.
