PAMELA

pamela

Pamela was a young dog when we rescued her.  Her back legs were paralysed, and her front legs had been broken.  She was dragging herself around on the ground looking for food.

Her injuries never completely healed, but she in pain-free now, and is a happy soul looking for a comfortable home.

pamela's STORY

Pamela was rescued in August 2020. Locals in the area said she was a stray that had been hit by a car a few weeks previously.  She was unable to use her back legs and her front legs were deformed from breaks that had healed on their own. We can’t bear to think how this poor little girl suffered with broken front legs and paralysed back legs.

We tried therapy with her but the bones in her front legs were too fused to heal.
She was really skinny and malnourished when we brought her in and also very afraid.

Doc Riv, our vet at the time, took her home to foster her and build up her strength while also trying to help her recover through physical therapy.

At the time, Doc Riv was also fostering Poppy and both of them bonded immediately.  When they came back to the shelter, Poppy was Pamela’s protector and they spent all their time together initially, now not so much.

Pamela’s injuries never healed and she still has to drag herself around. Wheelchairs are not suitable for the shelter as the ground is so uneven. She is not in any pain and now is a really happy little soul.
We would love for someone to adopt Pamela and give her the comfort of a home that she really needs.

Pamela Adopted!

We have some wonderful news to share!  Our little disabled dog Pamela was adopted by our shelter manager Rina and her partner Dex.  They have already adopted 3 dogs from DAS, Mimi, Mina and Chloe.
Pamela was rescued in June 2020 after she was reported dragging herself around the streets. She had apparently been run over a couple of months prior and her broken legs had already fused again in positions that made it difficult to walk. There was nothing that could be done for her.
She was fostered by Doc Riv Aballe along with Poppy.  Poppy and Pamela became inseparable and when Poppy was adopted in November last year, Pamela lost her best friend.  Dex couldn't bear to see her lonely so on New Year's Day, they took her home.
Despite Pamela's disability she has a good quality of life and can get herself around easily And plays with other dogs.  She settled into her new home immediately, happy to sleep on a bed for the first time probably in her life.  Thank you Cherrie for sponsoring Pamela while she was at the Sanctuary.  We will miss you Pamela but so happy you now have your own family! Pamela is the white dog on the right
