DAWSON

Dawson

In May 2024, we were found a tribe of six puppies apparently abandoned in a nearby derelict house we pass by on our walks.  It's something we deal with regularly, but these were unusual in that they were all older puppies and seemed reasonably well-cared for.  Dawson was one of the six.

Dawson's Story

On 28 May 2024, we took in a pack of six puppies, who seemed maybe 8 weeks old or more, and seemed well-cared for.  They were energetic, bright and not afraid of us at all.  We can't imagine why on earth these six came to be left in a derelict house nearby, on our regular walking routes, or even if they were all from the same litter.  We felt we couldn't leave them there, not least because when they matured, there would be even more puppies.

We took them in, and gave them the usual inspection, and found them to be carrying Parvovirus, so their period of Quarantine was especially important.  Amazingly, all of them got through with no obvious symptoms, but the end of their confinement coincided with the beginning of a distemper outbreak, and then the mystery illnesses and trials of August and September, and before you knew it, the six little puppies, including Dawson, were now young adults.

Each young dog has their own personality - Dawson is quite shy and retiring, preferring some peace and quite, and would be ideal for an older couple looking for a loving house companion.  The other five are Diane, Delia, Dove, Dario, and Dante.    All six are vaccinated and spayed or neutered.

Clementine is starting to improve. We believe her condition was due to calcium deficiency and now she's having regular IV infusions of calcium and magnesium.
