MIGGIE

Miggie

In May 2024, we took a number of dogs with similar but different conditions affecting their eyes. In Miggy's case, his condition was already pretty poor, so his infected eye was one one of many problems.  Luckily the reporter got him some emergency medical care, and now he is at the Sanctuary.

Miggie's Story

On 20 May 2024, we got a call from a reporter for a dog in a terrible state - laboured breathing, maggot infested eye and clearly not long left to live. Our rescue team was not available so we asked the person who reported it to take it to an emergency vet as it was after hours.

Luckily Cats n Dogs Veterinary Clinic agreed to admit the dog and the reporter managed to get help to get the dog to the clinic. She called him Miguel but as we have a Miguel, we changed the name to Miggie.
Miggie was in a bad way - very low body temp, very anaemic, high infection. The vet cleaned the maggots from his eye, administered medications, put on IV and also heating pads to raise his body temperature.

His bill for one day was P15,000 before we even started treatment at the Sanctuary the next day. Apart from his maggot infested eye, he has a TVT tumor on his head and is very emaciated. He was on iv-fluids and we put him through a course of chemo. After a few months, the tumour receded, his hair came back, and apart from his milky eye, which will probably never recover, he's a fluffy, friendly lad once more.  We couldn't be happier about his transformation - all we need now is a loving home to send him to, and the happy ending will be complete!
