Sinead

Sinead

Rescued on 9 April 2022, Sinead had been hit by a vehicle shortly after giving birth; her puppies could not be found.  He spine is injured, and her road to recovering mobility is far from assured.  She is gaining strength, and has the will to walk, and it's possible laser treatment will help.

Sinead's Story

On 9 April 2022 we had reports of a poor dog that was hit by a vehicle a couple of days earlier and couldn't move her back legs.  She has clearly just given birth and was probably in distress at not being able to find her puppies.  She was near the barangay Hall in Bunao.

The results of Sinead's x-rays were not good. She had no fractures in her limbs or pelvis, but she had a fractured spine, which has affected her nerves in her hind legs.
She was able to poop and wee at Sanctuary so hopefully these functions have not been affected.
Doc Gama, who did her x-rays believes there is a chance of recovery with laser therapy.  Both
Tinkerbelle and Serena's fractures healed fast with laser therapy so we commenced a 9-day treatment at Animal Wellness.

During the treatment, she had some trouble emptying her bladder and was put on a catheter, and lost her appetite for a while, but with a pain reflex in one of her hind legs, we were hopeful for the first time since her rescue.  Her treatment bill amounted to 27,000 pesos, which was entirely covered from kind donations from around the world.

She had 9 laser treatments and there is a significant improvement in terms of muscle and bone growth.
However, like Tinkerbelle, her spine was still out of alignment but we are hopeful that with further laser therapy it will get stronger.
