Neo when rescued

The first rescue of 2022, Neo had been hit by a car and left to die.  He had severe injury to his jaw and mouth.  We are hopeful his wounds will heal and he may look forward to a more carefree life.

Neo's Story

On 1 January 2022, we rescued Neo following a hit and run.  When we got to him he was bleeding from his mouth and couldn't move. On first assessment we found he had a hole under his jaw that was infected. We aren't sure if this was from the vehicle impact or an old injury. Usually under jaw injuries are from being kicked.

Unfortunately we can't really know what happened to him.  Doc Pierre did surgery on him and we also did x-rays.  He didn't seem to have any broken bones and his jaw was intact.  We had to do a full blood panel and other tests at Animal Wellness today, as our diagnostic supplies have run out, and restocking is difficult in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.

He was in a lot of pain from the injuries to his mouth so we administered morphine, put him on IV for a few days to make sure he is getting all his necessary meds - he was  understandably too disturbed by his experience to allow us to provide medication orally.

We hope as he recovers from his injuries, he will relax into a new kind of life where humans care for him and his welfare, as opposed to treating him like worthless trash, or worse.
