Sheera
In May 2024, we took in a young dog with what a large infected wound on her leg. She did not want to be caught but our staff managed to get to her and bring her to safety. Although she doesn't know it, she's one of the lucky ones - she's now at the Sanctuary getting all the care and love we can provide. We called her Sheera
WARNING - SHEERA'S WOUNDS WERE SEVERE, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.
Sheera's Story
On 21 May 2024, Sheera was reported in a remote location over 100 kms away. She's a stray that was being fed by a local in the area. She has a massive wound on her leg which initially looked like cancer but she is young, less than two years old so it was unlikely. X-rays showed no cancer and the vets believe it is an infection.
She was really difficult to catch. She was located in a field around 2kms up a dirt track. Staff had to walk in the blazing heat a four kilometers round trip and then chase her around a field. They finally got her!
Look at their faces as they are walking back with her! She needs to stablise and fight the infection to allow the swollen wound to reduce, then we can have a better idea on how to treat her. She's such a gentle girl, we hope she gets better quickly. The wound wasn't stopping her running away!
