In February 2023 we rescued Beauty. She was a dog we fed on our regular community rounds, but when we saw her last she had a broken hind leg, so we had to bring her in. With many donations of all sizes, we raised the funds necessary for an amputation, and she is now a happy inmate at the Sanctuary!

Beauty's Story
On 11 February 2023, we came across one of the dogs we are feeding in the community, called Beauty, who had some kind of vehicular accident. Here right hind leg was badly broken. Despite us being well beyond our capacity, we couldn't leave her to fend for herself.
We hoped the leg would set and mend by itself, but it didn't fuse well enough, which is common in older dogs like Beauty. Younger dogs who are still growing can sometimes heal fractures properly. We had no choice but to amputate when she grew strong enough.

We also delivered her of five puppies, of which three survived - Nina, Nadia and Nat. She came through her amputation surgery on 11 March, and is now fully recovered. She is managing to get around quite well already on her three remaining legs, and is a quiet and placid soul. We hope maybe someone out there will give her a welcome home, she really is a gentle dog.
