JIMMY

Jimmy

WARNING - JIMMY'S INFECTED WOUND WAS PARTICULARLY BAD, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.

Jimmy was rescued from Bacong in May 2022, close to death, with a very ugly open wound on his head which was infected and crawling with maggots.  He would have died if we didn't rescue him immediately.

Jimmy

Jimmy's Story

Reported in Bacong on 22 May 2022, despite being over capacity, we could not leave Jimmy to die a painful slow death.

Whatever caused the wound on his neck is unclear, but infection had set in, with maggots openly crawling around inside.

Andrew after surgery

We took out over 100 maggots, cleaned and dressed the wound, and as there were still maggots buried under his skin, we gave him an injection of Ivermectin to kill them.
We put him on an IV as he was very dehydrated. Here's a video clip of him when he was rescued.

We hope that his wound will heal, he will fight the infection, and begin to gain some weight and return to health.  We raised over 20,000 pesos for his care - many donations were for very small amounts of 10, 20, 30, pesos and more.

This is wonderful as small donations from many people is where our sustainability and survival as a charity lies.  Many people feel that if they can't donate a significant amount its not worth donating - it absolutely is.

Jimmy Checks Out!

Jimmy

Not exactly an adoption story - but we believe Jimmy is where he wants to be.  In late June, after a few weeks' recovery from surgery on a terrible wound in the side of his head, and after being vaccinated and putting on a few kilos, he managed to slip out of the gate when we had a delivery and never returned.
This is common with old street dogs - they just want to get back to the place that they are used to and really don't like being confined to the Sanctuary.  They usually come back, but not so far.  Jimmy will have likely made his way back to his previous area near Treba beach, Bacong and we will keep an eye out .
The good thing is his wounds have all healed, he is vaccinated and is now healthy.

You can read more about Jimmy on his profile page here.

Here are the heroes who found our buttercup. Neither would accept the reward, despite the fact that 10,000 pesos is a LOT of money here.
