Allie

Allie was a reported hit-and-run from October 2022, and whilst no bones were broken, her therapy to regain the use of her legs will take some time.  We hope she is returned to full health and a new home found for her.

Allie's Story

On 17 October 2022 we got numerous reports of another hit and run that had been lying by the side of the road for a couple of days.  We live in hope that one day someone else will step up and get these cases to the vet but no one did so we took her in.
We have very little money right now but we do what we can and hope people will help with the treatment costs.

Our philosophy is to do whatever it takes to save dogs like Allie, and if the injuries are too severe, we will do the right thing.

We did multiple xrays and there are no broken bones in her limbs but there is a misalignment in her spine at around the 10th vertebrae.

Over the years we have dealt with multiple spinal issues, but each one has a different prognosis depending on the specific vertebrae that is affected and the extent of the damage.
Doc Gama believed she has a chance of recovery with intensive laser therapy. We trust his judgement implicitly - if he says a dog needs to be put to sleep, we know that is the only viable option. If he says there is hope, we will do everything in our power to save the dog.

Allie will need to have daily laser therapy for the next seven days while confined at Animal Wellness. Laser therapy is 750 per session. She will also need ongoing laser therapy every 3 days after that for another 10 sessions.  We hope this will be the turning point for her on her journey back to health.
